Come to Ely to visit Bear Head Lake State Park for the fall version of Bear Essentials! During Bear Essentials, you’re required to fend for yourself in terms of bringing your own tent, food, and chair. Don’t have your own tent? Find someone who will lend you theirs, or share a tent with someone else!
We will be visiting the Wolf Center on Saturday, October 12th for those who wish to attend; you must purchase tickets to visit, which can be bought ahead of time or purchased at the door. Please note that some of their events require advanced ticket purchases so plan accordingly. Otherwise enjoy the “Up north Boundary Waters feel” of Bear Head Lake State Park, featuring various hiking trails from a short beach hike to backcountry trails where you have the chance to see various wildlife.
Notes: You will need a state park parking permit to park your vehicle at the site, you can get one at the main building for $7 for a day pass or you can also get a $35 year round pass. If you do not get a pass your vehicle will get ticketed.
